Turtle Bars
Can we even begin to figure how this dessert got tied to a turtle. Maybe its the ooey gooey chew that makes you want to slow down and you chow down each morsel.Combine together:
1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups quick oats
dash of salt
Then add: 3/4 cup margarine, mixing until crumbly
Reserve 3/4 cup of the mixture.
Press the rest onto the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 pan.
Bake 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 10 minutes. Next sprinkle over the crust the following:
1 package chocolate chips
1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans.
Combine the following:
1 small jar caramel ice cream topping
1/4 cup unbleached flour
Drizzle over the chips and nuts. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.
Bake at 375 degrees F( 190 degrees ) for 20 minutes. Before cutting, cool thoroughly to set chocolate.
